Rebuilding the home NAS
After the second silent bit-flip in a year I gave up on mdadm+ext4 and moved to two ZFS mirrors. Migration took a weekend, mostly waiting on rsync.
Scrub runs on the first Sunday of the month; snapshots every 15 minutes, pruned to hourly after a day and daily after a week.
Lesson: label the drive bays before you pull anything.
